”My journey has taken me from Syria to Sweden, via Lebanon and Brazil. It has been challenging, but it has also opened new opportunities. In Sweden, I’ve found a place that values human rights, and at Svenska Mässan Gothia Towers, I’ve found a workplace with supportive colleagues and the opportunity to build a secure future while continuing to grow.

I work as a Housekeeper at Upper House, our more intimate hotel. Housekeeping is physically demanding, but I truly enjoy it. My first job in Sweden was as a scaffolder, which wasn’t ideal because I’m afraid of heights. Today, I still enjoy spectacular views from the rooms at Upper House, but now there’s a window between me and the view.

I studied hospitality and service, but I’m also passionate about art and music. Working in hospitality means working with people, giving positive energy and receiving it in return. I joined Svenska Mässan Gothia Towers as a summer employee in 2022 and have stayed ever since. Working here has given me stability, as well as friendships with colleagues from many different parts of the organisation. We come from different cultures, but we’ve all found a place where we belong.

It’s important to me to treat everyone with the same respect. I also appreciate that, in Sweden, I can speak directly with my manager whenever I have questions. My days here, just like my life in general, are guided by humility and respect. For me, it’s important to lead by example. ”
