Press release 2026-10-06
Swedish Exhibition & Congress Centre and Gothia Towers are strengthening their offering for large meetings, congresses and events. Following the refurbishment of the Congress Hall, the venue can now accommodate up to 1,200 dinner guests. This creates new opportunities for organisers wishing to bring together conferences, dinners and accommodation under one roof. Adjacent to the venue are 1,200 hotel rooms and over 60 meeting rooms.
The Congress Hall is one of the Nordic region’s most flexible meeting venues, with space for up to 1,500 people in tiered seating. The venue can be quickly adapted to suit the various parts of an event. In less than two hours, the Congress Hall can be converted from a conference setting to a banquet setting when the tiered seating is raised to the ceiling, making room for a full dinner layout. This makes it possible, for example, to host a conference, a gala and a dinner in the same venue on the very same day.
The Congress Hall has also been fitted with new upholstery, improved comfort, a new floor, a black-painted ceiling and a built-in bar; improvements that simplify both planning and execution for organisers.

“We are seeing increased demand for flexible solutions for really large events. With the expanded capacity in the Congress Hall, we can accommodate more guests, simplify logistics and create better conditions for larger-scale meetings and experiences,” says Malin Erlandsson, Director Congress & Events.
