India’s Prime Minister visits Gothenburg

Today, Gothenburg is hosting a summit between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson. The Swedish Exhibition & Congress Centre and Gothia Towers serve as one of the venues during the visit, where the Indian Embassy organises a welcome reception for the delegation together with 300 members of the Indian diaspora in Gothenburg.

“I am very happy and proud to welcome Prime Minister Modi and Prime Minister Kristersson here. We want to actively contribute to creating favorable conditions for international collaboration together with companies in Gothenburg. This is fully in line with our mission as a foundation: to promote the development of the business community in western Sweden,” says Carin Kindbom, President and CEO of the Swedish Exhibition & Congress Centre and Gothia Towers.

In Gothenburg, bilateral meetings and discussions with European business leaders are on the agenda, with a particular focus on trade and innovation. Participants include President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, the countries’ foreign ministers and Crown Princess Victoria.

The summit helps to position Gothenburg as a city associated with innovation and development in key sectors such as life science, defence, AI, technology and the automotive industry.

“In close collaboration with various stakeholders in Gothenburg, we are working to strengthen the city’s international appeal by offering a professional and welcoming meeting place where business, politics and academia come together,” says Malin Erlandsson, Director of Sales Congress & Events at the Swedish Exhibition & Congress Centre and Gothia Towers.

The Swedish Exhibition & Congress Centre and Gothia Towers are hosting all types of meetings and delegations and have extensive experience of international meetings and visits with high security requirements, including EU summits and party conferences.
