The Swedish Exhibition & Congress Centre and Gothia Towers recertified according to ISO 20121

Sustainability work at The Swedish Exhibition & Congress Centre and Gothia Towers has evolved step by step over many years. The updated ISO 20121 recertification shows that this work continues to be carried out at a level that makes a tangible difference to how events are planned and delivered.

The Swedish Exhibition & Congress Centre and Gothia Towers has been recertified according to ISO 20121, the international standard for sustainable event management. The certification covers the entire venue – exhibitions, meetings, hotel, restaurants and spa – confirming that sustainability management is systematic, transparent and embedded across all parts of the operation. This comprehensive certification gives organisers and visitors confidence that sustainability efforts are managed consistently across the venue, which is particularly valuable for clients with high sustainability requirements.

ISO 20121 requires continuous follow-up, clear routines and ongoing development of working methods. The independent audit included a review of targets, processes, non-conformities and monitoring structures.

– This recertification shows that our sustainability work is an integrated part of how we run the business and the meeting place, not something that sits on the side. It is a mark of quality for the work that all employees contribute to as we move towards our long-term goal of being a sustainable meeting place, says Anders Tufvesson, CFO.

The Swedish Exhibition & Congress Centre and Gothia Towers has been certified according to ISO 20121 since 2015, and this year’s recertification was carried out in line with an updated version of the standard with expanded requirements. The standard covers responsible value chain management, resource efficiency, working environment and the governance of the full event-planning process. For many organisers, both national and international, this has become a key factor when selecting a venue – particularly for events with defined sustainability ambitions.
