Safety is our top priority

The Swedish Exhibition & Congress Centre and Gothia Towers is a meeting place with a wide range of events such as trade fairs, exhibitions and conferences, as well as hotels and restaurants. Safety and security for our visitors, exhibitors, guests and employees is always our highest priority.

Solid experience
We have solid experience in qualified security work and well-functioning routines for handling various events and situations. We have a high level of preparedness, good cooperation with the relevant authorities and great experience in handling both large and small, national and international events. Security at the meeting place is robust, highly prioritized and can be effectively dimensioned and adapted to conditions and needs.

Security efforts
Our security efforts are situationally assessed and based on allocating the right resources in the right place at the right time. This means that the security at our meeting place will be experienced differently depending on the character of the event and how the general security situation is assessed. As a meeting place, we can on occasion choose to work with more visible and safety-creating activities in the form of uniformed staff and access control. At other times we may choose less visible activities, such as more or fewer entrances to regulate visitor flows. We adjust and dimension our measures according to current needs and conditions.

The security situation in Sweden
We continuously follow the development of the security situation in Sweden and our surrounding world carefully and take safety and security-enhancing measures based on the current situation. Resources and efforts for our meeting place as well as our arrangements are planned based on collaboration with The Police, The Swedish Security Service and other relevant authorities.

The decision by The Swedish Security Service to change the threat level against Sweden is not based on a single event or a concrete threat. It is a strategic assessment and a signal to all relevant societal actors about the importance of continuing to take measures to reduce the risk of a serious incident. As a meeting place, we are acting on the decision by intensifying our already existing cooperation with The Police and The Swedish Security Service as well as adding further security measures to meet the threat level and continue to be a safe and secure meeting place. Examples of reinforced efforts are that we increase the staffing of our own security personnel and strengthen vigilance among staff at our meeting place. In consultation with the authorities, we adapt additional efforts based on visitor flows, arrangements in the house and the current situation.

Regarding the Police Authority’s decision on November 1, 2023 regarding bag bans at major events. The decision does not currently cover fairs and exhibitions, but this may change before your visit. It is important that you stay updated on the respective fair’s website for information about what applies to your visit. Although the Swedish Exhibition and Congress Centre is not currently subject to a total bag ban, we encourage visitors to leave their bags at home or to leave them in the wardrobe on site. Bags may be checked upon entry.

The certificate also imposes higher standards for structural fire protection.

Safehotels

Gothia Towers is certified at the Safehotels premium level and was the first hotel in the world to achieve this certification.

Construction of Västlänken - Station Korsvägen

In Gothenburg, a tunnel is being built under the central parts that will give the city a continuous commuter and regional train traffic. Three new stations will make the journey easier, faster and with fewer changes. Korsvägen is an important hub for public transport due to its proximity to the Swedish Exhibition Center and Gothia Towers, Liseberg, Scandinavium, Universeum and more.

Station Korsvägen will be located under the current tram station and is expected to be completed in 2026. In February 2022, the blasting of the rock where the station will be located began, which means that traffic may be shut down for about 10 minutes up to twice a day. The explosions take place only during the day and a heads-up in the form of an audible signal will be given. The impact on the Swedish Exhibition Center and Gothia Tower’s operations is very limited. This part of the work is expected to continue until the spring of 2023.
